Pregnancy related issues

From Pelvic Girdle Pain and back pain to leakage on sneezing and coughing, there is a wide range of pregnancy related problems that can be treated with expert physiotherapy assessment and intervention.

MENOPAUSE AND PERIMENOPAUSE

We aim to support women with the impact of changing hormones in the lead up to and beyond the menopause. Many women can experience side effects including pelvic floor dysfunction, poor sleep, general aches and pains and a shift in mood. We are able to assess and appropriately treat these side effects and work with patients to achieve their goals.

The mummy mot

A Mummy MOT is a specialist postnatal examination for women following both vaginal and C-section deliveries. It will assess how your posture, pelvic floor muscles and stomach muscles are recovering after childbirth. We will assess and provide you with gentle exercises and treatment to help with your recovery – and get you back on track with your fitness goals. This is a postnatal check for all women whether you gave birth eight weeks ago or eight years ago. If you are still feeling the effects or experiencing symptoms it’s important to be assessed. Often the six week postpartum GP check up is very brief and many questions go unanswered, this is your opportunity to have your questions answered. If required follow up assessments can be made to progress exercises and build towards achieving individualised goals. Be that getting back to running or lifting baby pain-free in and out of their cot.

Victoria is a senior Physiotherapist with a specialist interest in Women’s health. Victoria’s own pregnancy inspired her to find out more about the specialist services available and to gain a clinical understanding of her own pre and post-natal journey she became a member of the special interest group POGP (Pelvic Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy). Victoria sustained a 3b tear during her labour and discovered first hand there was little to no support locally. Eager to return back to high impact activity, specifically Crossfit she started a blog to educate and support women through their post and pre natal journey – The Postpartum Physio.
Victoria attended POGP accredited courses and The Mummy MOT course in Chelsea and Westminster and completed the Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute matwork levels 1-3 . Passionate to influence change and provide local support to help women when they need it most, at all stages of their lives. Victoria’s mission is to take the most up to date, relevant research and best practice and assess, advise and treat all aspects of women’s health so you can get back to doing what you enjoy!
